In a pond, there live millions of raindrops. They all feel happy with their lives—with one exception. Mr. Raindrop wonders about the beautiful blue sky and the billowing clouds above. At night, he longs to experience life among the glittering stars and the mysterious moon. Every day, he wishes to live on a cloud. To his surprise, some mysterious force decides to grant his wish. Mr. Raindrop finally experiences true happiness—but will it last forever?

This is where it all began. Written by Harriet Woodruff-Spizziri of Next Pictures, Mr. Raindrop comes from an idea Harriet developed as a teenager 50 years ago. In the fall of 2011, Woodruff-Spizziri and producer Brian Finn contacted Dani and her company (then PowerLight Animation Studios) with the script and concept art. The classic vintage style of the characters was outside Dani’s comfort zone. She learned flexibility and patience in order to bring Woodruff-Spizziri’s concept to life. Mr. Raindrop debuted in 2012 at WonderCon’s Los Angeles International Children’s Film Festival. It later screened at San Diego Comic-Con alongside the premiere of Dani’s second animated short, The Namazu. Mr. Raindrop won the award for Best Animated Short at the International Family Film Festival in 2013. You can watch Mr. Raindrop on the official DaniMation YouTube page here.
