Local 24 Year Old Autistic Entrepreneur Launches Montrose (LA area), CA and United Kingdom Branches to Provide Job Skills For Youth With Autism
First Time Offered in Los Angeles, Program First of Its Kind in the UK

Dateline : Montrose, CA July 26, 2019
24-year-old La Canada, CA resident Dani Bowman will be launching a new program in Montrose, CA and her first summer autism animation camp in England this August at University of Plymouth in Devon, England. Dani Bowman, at age 14, started teaching others on the autism spectrum with Joey Travolta’s Inclusion Films summer camp program. Now age 24, Dani has run annual camps in Florida, Ohio, and Northern California and in total has taught over 1,500 students with autism.
While Dani has been teaching each summer throughout the US, this is the first program offered in Dani’s home town of Montrose and the program in England is the first of its kind in the UK.
Danimation Founder Dani Bowman stated, “I’m excited to be launching the new program here in Los Angeles and this new program in the UK. For too long, many individuals on the autism spectrum and other disabilities have been excluded from the workforce despite our unique skills and talents in the arts and animation. Programs like ours help prepare individuals for a meaningful career path in an industry that they love.” Joe added, “We hope to be able to enable this initiative to become widespread across the UK, as there are just no other opportunities quite like this here and we hope to improve employment chances for those on the spectrum.”
In Montrose, while local area businesses and parents are excited to have the Danimation in the community, there has been some pushback with the removal of promotional banners in the area. Sandy Vielma, marketing director stated, “It’s disappointing to see that banners promoting services for individuals with a disability have been specifically targeted for removal while other banners for other summer programs remain untouched. Despite this challenge, we’ll continue to work hard to make a difference to individuals impacted by autism”. The Montrose camp will run August 5th-9th and the UK camp will run from August 19th-23rd.

About Autism
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disorder that affects communication and behavior. According to the Center of Disease Control, about 1 in 59 children are affected by autism.
Autism is known as a “spectrum” disorder because there is wide variation in the type and severity of symptoms people experience. ASD occurs in all ethnic, racial, and economic groups. Although ASD can be a lifelong disorder, treatments and services can improve a person’s symptoms and ability to function.
